Apple will not unveil iPad 3 in February

The Japanese tech-blog Macotakara has made some outrageous claims during the past few weeks pertaining to an “unusual” Apple event in Mid-February. The purpose of the event, according to the blog, would be Apple’s unveiling of the iPad 3. Now, Macotakara are backpedaling on their report, saying that due to some delay in production the iPad event has been moved to March.

Macotakara is still saying that Apple will hold an event in February, but that it won’t be product related.

Apple, of course, hasn’t offered an official comment on any of this, but that hasn’t stopped tech-media bloggers from speculating on the release date of the iPad 3.

The Loop’s Jim Dalrymple reported that he spoke with a few of his well-connected sources, and is flatly drying that Apple will hold any sort of event this month.  As he put it on his official blog, “This is not going to happen, according to my sources. Apple will not hold an event in February, unusual or otherwise. That’s it.”

Dalrymple has been known to have credible sources within Apple, and has debunked several claims that ended-up being just rumors in the past. With multiple sources sticking with a March shipment date, it certainly make sense that March may be the excellent time-frame for such an event, especially considering the iPad 2 was originally announced on March 2, 2011.
