Apple updates iBooks 2

Apple has silently issued an update to their newly released iBooks 2 iOS application, bringing the software to v2.0.1. The update fixes a major bug which prevented iBooks Textbooks from opening within the application.

Apple officially released this statement to iBooks 2 users before the update:

We’re aware of a small number of iBooks 2 users having issues with the playback of the introduction movies when opening iBooks textbooks. It will be fixed soon in an upcoming software update.

The problem began at the intro movie inside the textbooks, causing a failure to play that left plenty of users unable to view the contents of the books. Apple quickly addressed the issue, bringing improved stability and software enhancements to iBooks 2.

The updated iBooks 2 is available now in the App Store.
